Octopus Pattern

My second pattern turned out really well and I am quite pleased with the result. It is an octopus design that originally came from Cricut, created by Dina St. Laurent. The pattern was intended to be made on paper, so I had to modify a few elements to adapt it for my project.

The biggest challenge I encountered for felt was cutting out the eight arms precisely. For the body, I cut two separate pieces, and for the face, I cut one piece. I appreciated the separated look this gave, rather than having it all as one single piece. When sewing, you will have three pieces—the two body parts and the face—to join together.

A star or shell would be a great addition to give it more color.

You can create this octopus in any size you want, but I chose a smaller size to serve as a filler for an Operation Christmas Child shoebox, alongside many other items. I will also be on the lookout for other sea-themed items that I can include with it to enhance the overall theme.

Please share a picture on my Facebook page @loristreasures if you decide to make this pattern. I’d love to see the different ideas.
